Uniform

At the start of the academic year, girls may wear summer or winter uniform until the Michaelmas half-term holiday. All girls must wear winter uniform when they return to school after the Michaelmas half term break. Summer uniform must be worn from the start of the Summer Term.

All girls are required to wear the regulation school uniform and sports kit. We have recently changed our uniform supplier to Stevenson's. The Queen’s College Parents’ Circle also runs a regular second-hand uniform sale.

A detailed uniform list will be sent to you prior to your daughter starting.

Wellbeing and Pastoral

Individualised and proactive pastoral care has always been – and will always be – at the very top of our agenda.

We have always instinctively known that girls can only reach their true potential if they are happy and well supported at home and at school. We know that the emotional wellbeing of children is just as important as their physical health. If a child is unhappy she will not be able to achieve academically. Good mental health allows children to develop the resilience to cope with whatever life throws at them and grow into well-rounded, healthy adults.

We know our girls extremely well, and we quickly spot when one of them might be acting a little differently or struggling.

By working closely with our families and by intervening quickly, we can usually put in place the help and support they need to quickly bounce back to their usual self. We also measure our pupils’ attitudes to school each year to make sure that we are able to identify any trends and address any issues that may be bubbling under the surface before they become a problem.

QCPS Counselling Service

There are times when a pupil might need a little extra help and having the opportunity to talk with someone outside the family or school setting can, in many cases, help a child to deal with a particularly difficult issue they are facing.

The QCPS Counselling Service supports the school’s extensive system of pastoral care, offering 1:1 therapy sessions for girls and support for parents through an expert external provider who comes into school.

Health and Nutrition

We believe that food and nutrition are vital to your daughter’s physical, mental and social development. As such, we are committed to serving fresh, healthy and varied food in our dining room where the girls are provided with a breaktime snack and served lunch every day.

Our Menu

We operate a rotational menu to ensure that our pupils are offered a variety of foods from a range of different cuisines. All meals are served in the dining room, and the girls are encouraged to use proper table manners and try new foods. Special events, such as Chinese New Year, are often celebrated with a special menu in the dining room.

  • Lunch is served from 11.40am - 1.30pm with Pre-Prep and Prep sitting at different times.

Balanced meals of fresh, home-cooked food are offered alongside soup, a salad bar, and a cold dessert. A selection of fruit is offered at every meal. Our catering team serve the food to the girls and teaching staff are on hand to help the girls with their food choices.

Dietary Requirements

The majority of dietary requirements can be catered for in the dining room, and we all enjoy Meat Free Mondays.

Parents' Circle

The Parents' Circle welcomes new parents to the school and contributes to building an inclusive parent body through social events.

The Parents’ Circle engages in activities which support and advance the welfare and education of the girls and raises money for charity and for the school in ways that are compatible with the ethos of QCPS.

It offers the opportunity for all parents to be involved and to offer help in any way they can.

Funds raised by the Parents’ Circle will normally be donated to the school to pay for activities, equipment or other resources that improve the girls’ experience at school and which could not otherwise be provided from core school funds.
